Drum Drills

Prior to exams, I get my students to do an exercise which is quite intense and requires stamina and concentration. Starting from the beginning of the piece we select sections and repeatedly play them with a 1 bar rest in between. I found this technique really useful when learning new parts in short periods of time as it builds muscle memory and stamina. Once you get through a section like this, try playing the whole section… Easy now isn’t it! 😉
